Mum THE HEALTH Ministry will be assisting another child with funds required for urgent medical treatment abroad.

The mother of the 14-year-old boy, however, is worried that her son will die before they receive the cheque for US$40,000.

Orisha Murai-Joseph, speaking with the Express during a visit on Friday, believes she is receiving the "run-around" from the Ministry while the life of her son Mukalai hangs in the balance.

"I need for them to give me some answers. Why they not helping my child?"

Back in March her normally active son began suffering from fatigue and then severe chest pains. He was admitted to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope for one month where doctors discovered damage to one of his heart valves and he required surgery abroad.

He was accepted for care at the Pediatric Cardiovascular Center of the University of Florida/Jacksonville at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. According to a doctor from the centre, Mukalai had sustained a myocardial infarction (heart attack) which caused a psuedoaneursym of the left ventricle (a heart chamber) that required surgery.
